About Rho Sigma

Rho Sigma Graduate Chapter was founded in 1936 by seven college graduates. From the beginning, our main interest has been to service the Detroit community.

In 1936, Rho Sigma was the first sorority in Detroit to have a career conference for African Americans. It was during this year that Rho Sigma also donated kitchen products to the Peter Pan Nursery, which was an African American enterprise founded by our soror, Mattie Brown.

Rho Sigma is very proud of its scholarship activities. Thousands of dollars are donated each year to young women in our Undergraduate chapters and Rhoers at the high school level to support them in furthering their education.

Additionally, Rho Sigma has stood tall in providing support to other programs in Detroit and beyond:

Local / National Initiatives

Sigma Youth Symposium
